Ghana is gradually drifting into the world of fashion and these days almost every girl on the streets wants to be a model but many do not really know the struggle that comes with it.
In case you didn’t know, here are 10 struggles most models in Ghana endure every day.
1. Flawless Face
Models are typically supposed to have beautiful blemish-free faces but the truth is that, this is quite impossible. This reality pushes many models onto the market searching for all the products that promise a flawless skin. It’s a real struggle maintaining a smooth and flawless face all the time due to changes in the body.

2. The Struggle Of Staying Slim
To fit into clothes, most fashion designers expect you to be in shape and so staying in shape becomes your struggle and you try as much as you can to avoid eating even your favourites dishes just to prevent you from building up calories and getting out of shape.
3. Everybody Thinks You’re Cheap
Unfortunately, due to our mindset and the kind of clothes models are made to wear, the notion out there is that, most models are promiscuous. You might be a decent girl but you always have to put up with people who actually think you sleep around due to the work you do.

4. Boring
Life becomes boring when the runway is over, you have to wait for another call-up, until then, all you do is sit behind your TV and probably traveling to meet agents and fashion designers or just visiting friends and wasting time on social media while your friends get up every morning to go to work.
5. You Have To Retire Before You Hit 30
Being a model is just like being a footballer and most agents prefer young girls between the ages of 18 – 24 and so before you hit 25 – 28, you have to start thinking about your retirement. Unless you’re petite and able to stay forever young.
6. Other Women Envy You
Because other women don’t know the struggle you go through, most of them think it is all rosy for you and they end up envying you. There’s also the perception that modelling pays a lot so most people will envy thinking you’re making a lot of money.
7. You Can’t Eat What You Really Desire
You have no option than to avoid the Bankus, Fufus and TZs because you’re scared of gaining weight and losing out on the market. You’re basically prevented from eating your favorite meals or munching on those sweets.

8. It Doesn’t Pay Much
A lot of people enter the industry with the hope you making it big only to realise that it doesn’t pay as they assumed. Modelling is catching up in Ghana but it’s still a less paid job. Unless you probably get a contract to work outside the country, else, you’ll have to struggle to keep up your “celeb” appearance. Most event organiser are very selfish and greedy, they just use the models and dump them.
9. You Have To Wear Clothes You Never Get To Have
You model in clothes and at the end of the day, you have to drop them for the designer. It fits perfectly but you can’t have it unless you buy and you probably do not have that kind of money.
10. Falling On Stage
Falling on stage is your worst nightmare but unfortunately, you can’t avoid it especially when you have to wear all kinds of shoes on the runway for just one night. It can be tiring and you might be wearing some type of shoes or new designs for the first time and this can mess you up.
