Pastor Nabbed for Running Prostitution Ring in Church

Barely a week after the Nigerian Police lamented the high rate of sexual crimes among religious leaders, a 54-year-old woman, Pastor Idowu Olupinla, has been nailed for allegedly operating a prostitution cartel in her church.

Pastor Olopinla, the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ijoko-Ota, Ogun State, was arrested at her church premises on number 52,Okesina Street before being paraded alongside some of her victims at Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, PT reports.

Apparently, the pastor’s stock-in-trade is arranging male sex customers for the teenage girls aged 14 to 16 who live with her in the church compound. Talk about desecrating the temple of the Holy Spirit!

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Ahmed Ilyasu, said the victims had been taken to a hospital, while assuring that the suspect would be charged to court for human trafficking and child abuse.

“We are about 10 with Mama, and she always arrange men for us to have sex,” she said. “She created apartment within the church premises, where the men sleep with us. We charge N500 per sex in which Mama will collect N300 and give us N200,” said a 16-year-old who’s lived with Olupinla for nine years.

She added that the girls go through multiple abortions in order not to be tossed out on the streets, and lose the N1,500-per-day ‘work’.
